Deruption

"Deruption" was created in 2012 and is a study for a future larger work.  It is a mixed media piece that consists of lead, marble dust, pulverized Mount Etna igneous rock, graphite, oil paint and bricks. Its dimensions are 17" w x 8.5" h x 1" d. "Deruption" was created shortly after the artist's trip to Sicily made partly to trace his Sicilian ancestry and to resolve confusion about the origins of the Ardito family. The artist's accommodations overlooked Mount Etna, one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
