DAVID ARDITO & SAM SWEEZY

Starting in 2002, photographer, Sam Sweezy and painter/sculptor, Dave Ardito have been collaborating on works that investigate how the two art forms can be combined. Each work starts with at least one paper photograph and these photographic products are then de-constructed and integrated with other media to form a spatially and figuratively ambiguous work. Both natural and man-made subjects are photographed but eventually all but disappear in the final work. The artists focus on a variety of visual and political issues including geometry, an investigation of surface and space, the environment, the process of decay and the anatomy of place.
