 "Unknowing" 2024 View # 1

"Unknowing" 2024

"Unknowing" 2024 (three views)

Dimensions: 27.5" h x 12" w x 6" d

Media: cement, lead, wood, fabric, copper, rubber

The title "Unknowing" refers, in part, to the art making process that is employed in many of my sculptures. I value the idea that the less I know what the outcome will be in each sculpture the more exciting it is to make it and the more unique and mysterious the outcomes will be. This frees me to be influenced by many things including ancient historical art forms, technical attachment challenges, the works of established artists, and intentional and accidental metaphors. I also allow myself to be seduced by the physicality of the random materials, often deconstructing (destroying and altering) them as I go.
